ABOUT ME
I identify as as an (s)I.O.N
(Slightly) Introverted Otaku Nerd
I definitely prefer to be alone more than half the time, catching up on manga chapters or anime episodes, reading/shopping for/bidding on comics and of course watching/catching up on TV shows. But Fairy tail's Makarov said it best: "There are people in this world who prefer solitude. But there is no one who can withstand it." I prefer being alone a lot but I do like people's company. Its just that I'd take being with two of my closest friends over a big party anyday, though. Mind you, it's even better when that time can be spent binging on Netlfix stuffing our faces with candy and junk.
I absolutely love finding new manga to read and even just got into manhwa (korean manga) which I'm finding to be so incredibly amazing btw; the storylines are simply captivating, believe me. And the fact that they're in colour makes it even better. From time to time, I even enjoy reading/watching series which are already completed, just for the sake of it. To me the world of manga/anime is like an escape, but more. The ideals can be considered cliche at times but I find solace in them.
Finding solace in every world but our own is kind of a foundation for how I live. Escaping to the world of anime is one, comics is two, sci-fi and fantasy shows are another. There's Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Black Haze, Kubera, Soul Cartel, Blue Exorcist, Black Butler, Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball......The Flash, Batman, Hawkman, Spidey, Justice League, Harley Quinn, Aquaman, Thor, Cap. America......Supernatural, Sherlock, Star Wars, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, Dr. Who......My Life in a nutshell (There's more, but that's enough to make a point).
Surprisingly enough, my life isn't completely encompassed around being a nerd...As I mentioned before, I am (slightly) introverted so I do like keeping to myself and being alone, but this is usually when I get most energised. Actually, it'd be better to say that I feel energized anytime I'm focusing deeply on a subject or activity that really catches my interest. History for one thing...the history of everything really, but Ancient History and the Classics I love. Black History. Well, that says it all. Black History is MY HISTORY. I do everything to find the truth about it and embrace it but I do my best to find the real truth, not what the media tells me. But not just History. We learn so much from History but it only shows you one perspective. Languages, Cultures, Traditions, they show you another side of the spectrum; gives you a better viewpoint on someone's identity.
This ties in with my Ultimate Goal, which is becoming a PolyGlot. When I get alone, I'm motivated: it's here that I started learning sign language from books, and online videos and its alone that I usually do my uni work the best.
It's also a goal of mine to finally pick up consistent reading again. When I say reading this time, I don't mean comics. I mean actual 'novels'. Now, it's not like I don't like reading or haven't read my fair share of novels, its simply the fact that over the years with technology blooming, I've somehow always found a way to get distracted and throw reading aside, unless it was mandatory (i.e uni textbooks/research). But NOMORE! There's an evergrowing reading list that WILL be tackled! But... I'll start in September 2016 >.<
With a summer job and other obligations, I think I'll need the momentum of the school year to get me going. Either way, wish me luck! I'll keep my list here and have it updated as much as possible. I might even do a review or two ;)
I also really want to not see the world through anyone else's eyes but my own. I want to travel everywhere and see everything for myself, not through photos or videos online or in books: I crave the thrill of getting to experience everything from foods, cultures and traditions, to music and folklore.
Now, people say you should travel the world on your own just once and I might take them up on that suggestion, but facing and confronting the world... I think I'd enjoy doing that with friends first.
Ideas, thoughts, updates on my ever-growing comic collection (I'm so proud), progress on my reading list, entertaining troubles (shortcomings) of my lifestyles and more, it's all going to be accumulated here...oooo goody >.<
